Days until the General Election · Tue Nov 3, 2026
1821 judges scored · Grades A=6 · C=1782 · F=33 · MethodologyAbout Wake the Bench
Judges are often the least-known names on the ballot.
Wake the Bench gathers what the public record shows about each judge — court, seat, retention questions, published opinions, and any public discipline — and links every claim to its source. Coverage grows state by state as records are verified.
How it works
Pick your state, look up your judges, read the cited record, then vote informed.
A and F grades require cites. Thin records stay C until sources land.
How grades work
| Grade | Meaning | When we use it |
|---|---|---|
| A | Common-sense record | Sourced public-safety / parental-rights / anti-bureaucracy case-vote patterns (published opinions) |
| C | Mixed / thin record | Insufficient public evidence for A or F; explicit note required |
| F | Out of touch on the basics | Public CJP discipline/censure OR sourced progressive-bench signals with cites |
A and F require cites; thin → C.
We never invent CJP findings or court holdings.
- Aligned — Common-sense record. Cited public-safety / parental-rights / anti-bureaucracy patterns match FairPAC common-sense outcomes. Alias of legacy A.
- Contested — Mixed record. Cited signals pull both ways. Alias of legacy C when mixed.
- Misaligned — Out of touch on the basics. Public CJP discipline/censure OR sourced progressive-bench / restrictive-liberty + defendant-forward + agency-expansion patterns with cites. Alias of legacy F.
- Thin — Not enough public cites yet. Researchable but unsourced — default until cites land. Alias of legacy C when thin.
